Chris Ruszkowski (Abandoning All)

For Chris Ruszkowski, September 19, 2003 was more than just an ordinary day. That morning he would collide, in a freak accident, with tragedy.

Reporting for work early he went through his normal routine as he prepared to drive his Bluebird bus from Olean to Buffalo. On his way there his vehicle was hit by a dump truck that had collided into a train bridge. After the screeching, Chris found himself trapped and dangling in the seat of the bus. After a fire crew freed him from the wreckage he was rushed to the hospital for surgery to repair his badly injured legs. When he woke up he found that his right leg had been amputated, his other leg badly injured.

Chris had been a Christian for about six years prior to that day. As he lay in the hospital, despite hardship & pain, Chris did something amazing… he worshipped God! Family members brought him his keyboard where he immediately began singing songs of praise to Jesus! Staff & patients all around his room came to hear this wonderful song, a song of praise in the midst of intense struggle. It was around this time much of this material was written.
